Para ele, o valor de uma obra estava no potencial de mudan&#231;a da situa&#231;&#227;o do artista e do espectador, n&#227;o na tradi&#231;&#227;o ou autenticidade.</p><p>Influenciado e influenciador de Hannah Arendt, Rosenberg defendia que o papel do cr&#237;tico n&#227;o era avaliar tecnicamente, mas julgar a a&#231;&#227;o do artista como revela&#231;&#227;o de uma vida em luta contra clich&#234;s, rotinas e manipula&#231;&#245;es do capitalismo. Ele desconfiava tanto da idolatria do &#8220;artista solit&#225;rio&#8221; quanto da institucionaliza&#231;&#227;o da arte, temendo que ambas pudessem ser cooptadas pelo mercado.</p><p>No fim da vida, Rosenberg alertou para o perigo do cinismo e da indiferen&#231;a pol&#237;tica, defendendo que cr&#237;ticos e artistas deveriam se engajar de modo pessoal e honesto, demonstrando suas rea&#231;&#245;es e indigna&#231;&#245;es, e n&#227;o apresentando uma postura de especialista. Um oriental s&#233;rio, vestido com um uniforme ao estilo mao&#237;sta, &#243;culos espelhados e uma express&#227;o impass&#237;vel &#8212; um <em>alter ego</em> que parecia ser, ao mesmo tempo, turista oficial, diplomata estrangeiro e figura sat&#237;rica.</p><p>Entre paisagens americanas ic&#244;nicas &#8212; a Est&#225;tua da Liberdade, a Casa Branca, o letreiro de Hollywood, at&#233; a Disneyl&#226;ndia &#8212; Tseng surgia como protagonista. Sempre s&#243;brio, sempre em pose. O cen&#225;rio era carregado de simbolismo, o gesto era preciso. E o clique final transformava tudo em coment&#225;rio pol&#237;tico e po&#233;tico.</p><p>O mais impressionante &#233; como tudo isso aconteceu d&#233;cadas antes da <em>selfie</em> se tornar linguagem dominante. Tseng estava &#224; frente &#8212; n&#227;o s&#243; tecnicamente, mas conceitualmente. Usava a pr&#243;pria imagem para tensionar fronteiras: entre o Oriente e o Ocidente, entre o individual e o institucional, entre a performance e o pertencimento.</p><p>Talvez sua obra tenha ficado &#224; margem justamente por isso.
